Today I just added a subscription form for a newsletter to the site. Email is supposed to be one of the best mediums for online marketing. It is cheap, it is instant, and it supposedly produces outstanding results. Did I mention that it is also automated? "...It is the most under-appreciated marketing medium in history - and it's still the biggest online marketing opportunity for you." Thats a quote from the book e-Riches 2.0 by Scott Fox. I am actually reading that book right now and it is a very good read. I have also read from other various sources that email marketing is key. I will soon find out how powerful it is as my email list grows.

Free or Paid Email marketing tools?

For this site I chose to go with a paid email marketing tool. I chose to use Aweber for my email marketing campaign. After reading horror stories about high profile bloggers starting off using a free service and having to switch to a paid service and losing a huge chunk of their collected email addresses, I decided to go with a paid service from the get go. It was really a no brainer. Aweber costs $19 a month and that will service up to 500 email addresses. Once I reach that level I will upgrade to the next level of service and so on. Since I am serious about making money online I have already decided that I am here to stay, I didn't really have to think too hard about paying money for something like this because it is an investment. I am thinking long term here and I know Aweber will be a good choice in the future when my email list is huge.

After signing up with Aweber, I took the time and created a new list and customized all the emails (confirmation emails, thank you email, etc.). I then created a custom form for the sidebar of the site and also a light-box form that pops up the first time someone visits the site. People may think this is annoying but it places a cookie on your computer after you visit the site for the first time and it will not pop up again after that. Sometimes you just have to get in front of people directly for them to see the value in what you are doing and decided to become a part of it. I will test different forms over time to see which ones work the best and generate the most sign-ups.

Why Aweber?

In short, I chose Aweber because I liked what they were offering at the price they were offering if for, I knew I could use it no matter how big I grow, and I have noticed that most of the top bloggers use it.

This is very early in the life of this site but it is important that I begin to collect emails now so I can better retain visitors early on and send them content via email that they will find valuable. Sign up for my newsletter and I promise you that you will find it very rewarding (ie. valuable information, contests, etc.). Go ahead and sign up in the sidebar.
