Travis Farnes Dot Com is Completely Redesigned

From the ground up this site has been completely redesigned and now rests on a new platform; Joomla! Wordpress is definitely the blogger platform of choice and I have used it many times but after moving Countdown To Win over to Joomla I liked it so much that I decided to run this site from it.

Joomla is not known to be a major player in blogging platforms but I am hoping that will change thoughout the development of this site. Joomla can already do most if not all of what Wordpress can do in my opinion and it even does some things better. I definitely think that Wordpress is much lighter though. Also, there are many wordpress plugins that I was used to using and had to go out and find comparable Joomla extensions to replace. Although Wordpress can be widgetized, I find that Joomla's module positions work much nicer. For instance, it is much easier to have something in the sidebar show up only on specific pages in Joomla rather than having to create a bunch of sidebar widgets in Wordpress to do the same thing. I could probably go on forever comparing the two platforms' pros and cons but I will save that for a later day.

The new site design is much cleaner than before and much more organized. I also feel that it will support ads better than before for when that time comes. Take some time after reading this post and browse the site a little and tell me what you think. Since blogging from Joomla isn't that popular right now I will probably spend some time writing about it every once in a while for the people that would like to give it a shot. I will also let you know what extensions I am using and what works and what doesn't.
