This is just an update to show where I'm at with my internet businesses. Handyman Edge is steadily gaining email list subscribers. There is rarely a day when no one signs up at all. There are currently 233 people on my Aweber list. The last 90 people or so that have signed up have come to the site from organic search results mostly in google. After seeing this "phenomenon", it helps me to understand how people actually make "automatic" money on the internet - and I'm excited. It definitely shows that every article I write keeps adding more value to the site and increases the overall reach to prospective readers. As time goes on the old articles will keep ranking in the search engines and continue to bring people to the site. The site's PageRank will increase also increasing it's authority in the niche.
It's amazing to see people interested in the content I am creating. It lets me know that there truly is a demand for this information and I will continue to write articles that solve problems and genuinely help out the people in my niche. My goal is to continue being engaged with my audience and to understand their problems and provide solutions for them.
I have experimented with other projects but have since decided to narrow my focus to avoid being spread to thin. Instead of trying to work on many projects at the same time I want to focus on one or two that I can really work at to become profitable. I feel that focus is the key to my success online at this point.
Other than that, I will keep working it and keep learning as I already am. I learn new things daily about the internet and making money online. As I learn new techniques I try to figure out how they can work for me and my projects and use them to better my websites.
Money made online: $0
Information gained: Priceless

I just wanted to give a little update on Handyman Edge. This is a site I started that teaches people how to start and run a successful handyman business. There are tips and tricks that can really help out anyone looking to differentiate themselves from the competition. I am able to write articles for this niche because I am currently running a handyman business myself and have been doing so for about 6 years. I have learned many "secrets" that have helped me make more money than the competition and allowed me more free time to pursue other projects such as my new online ventures. On with the updates.
Handyman Edge has been running for one month now. There are only about 15 articles right now but they are all full of good information. I don't feel that this is a site that I will need to write a few articles a day for. I feel that a few a week will be sufficient as long as they are extremely valuable and teach people concepts that can immediately help them with their handyman business.
Since the site is only a month old, I knew that I wouldn't be bringing in organic search traffic so I paid for traffic fromt the major search engines as well as facebook. I let the ads run and after a few days paused all ads except the facebook ones. It was a little too hectic running all the ads on all the advertising platforms at once because I am just learning about PPC advertising. I decided to stick with facebook ads because they just seem easier overall to run. I ran the facebook ads for a few weeks at a budget of $20 a day. I recently paused the facebook ads as I was starting to run short on capital. I will soon resume them to continue to build my email list. As of today I have 167 people that have signed up to my Aweber email list from this paid traffic. The site has not brought in any money yet but I am working on monitizing it. I will start with affiliate links to products and services that I currently use such as domain and web hosting as well as Awber email marketing and other services that will help people with their handyman businesses. These affiliate links will be in articles as well as emails. My goal is to build a steady stream of passive income from this site. The email autoresponders act as a sales funnel for the reader and really do all the work. I will continue to produce high quality free content for the site as well as offer my own products for sale.
Thats basically a quick update about what is going on with Handyman Edge. I have some other projects in the works that I will be writing about shortly. I am really hoping that I am not spreading myself too thin with so many projects going at once. I am hoping that I will soon be able to bring in a steady flow of income from handyman edge so I do not have to run my business anymore and can just create high value content and help other people with their handyman businesses. My goal is to have Handyman Edge bringing in $100 a day profit by September 1, 2010. I will let you know how it is going.

I have recently started a new website called Handyman Edge. It is a resource for people looking to start or already running a handyman business. I have learned a lot from my handyman business that I really feel can benefit someone looking to start their own. I have been writing articles that will help people build a successful handyman business. I look at my handyman business as a success because it has enabled me to pursue other goals that I am interested in achieving as well as providing me with the income I need. It gives me the free time to learn about the new industry that I am working my way into. I would not be able to spend the time to learn what I am learning to make a living online if it weren't for my handyman business.
I did not have a clear goal when I first started my business but I like how it is now essentially a stepping stone to the next phase of my life. I don't mind having a business that is just a stepping stone to the next. I learn so much from every business I start that carries over into everything else in life. If I can use the knowledge I have gained to help other people interested in the handyman trade become successful then I feel that I have yet another accomplishment that I can be proud of. I will detail my progress with this new project and any concurrent projects. I call these businesses "projects" because I can test them and drop them at any time if I feel that they are not serving their purpose. I am not afraid to drop something that isn't performing how I want it to.
